Tier I Interventions in the Context of RTI Approaches to Preschool Early Literacy Instruction: Domains, Evidence, and Outcomes

Development of early literacy skills during the preschool period contributes significantly to the later acquisition of skilled reading. This presentation will review evidence of the early literacy domains related to later reading skills as well the evidence that current preschool curricula have a positive impact on these skills. Data from several recent studies will be presented that identify potential challenges to applying RTI models in preschool settings.
