Progress Monitoring in Akron Ready Steps: A Work in Progress

Procedures, tools and logistics for progress monitoring on essential early literacy skills in an Early Reading First context are described. Two approaches are presented: a broad approach that monitors all children’s progress on marker variables and a curriculum-based approach for those most at risk; examples are provided. Teacher/teacher assistant professional development in the ‘how to’ of progress monitoring is also discussed.
