Making the Most of Whole Group and Small Group Instruction

Quality RTI practices can significantly contribute to children’s success when instruction supports and extends their language and literacy development. Practical ideas are offered on how to help teachers focus whole and small group instruction to promote children’s learning and engagement. The presentation will include suggestions on integrating themes throughout the day, enhancing vocabulary learning, and fostering oral language and story comprehension. Methods for organizing and maximizing small groups by altering instructional strategies to accommodate each child’s current development and skill levels will be highlighted.
