Developing A New Set of Early Literacy and Language IGDIs

This session will provide an overview of the research and development process, resulting early literacy and language IGDI measures, and corresponding decision making criteria for use within an early childhood RTI model. Procedures described will include the challenges, benefits and necessary components of using an identification and progress monitoring system in early childhood settings as well as related issues in application. An overview of the measure development model (c.f. Wilson, 2005) and resulting analysis will be provided, as well as a framework for selecting the most promising measures. Information regarding content and evidence of validity will also be highlighted to support use of the measures in early childhood settings.
