Where are We? Defining High Quality Tier One Environments and Assessments for Dual Language Learners

Dual Language Learners (DLLs) are often over-identified as needing Tier Two levels of support with little discussion of the match between their Tier one environments, the assessments that were used, and their linguistic and educational needs. This presentation will provide a brief introduction to bilingual development and the implications and relevance both for practice and assessment. Strategies for implementing evidence-based approaches to the early education and evaluation of DLLs will be provided.
